Suicide is one of the serious issues we are facing in this world. South Africa is one of the top 10 countries with the highest number of suicide deaths. In a past few months we have lost celebrities like Ricky Rick, Patrick Shai and many more due to suicide. There are some signs people with suicidal thoughts have, but how do we identify those signs?

These are some of the signs that you can identify on a personal who is suicidal:

1.      Talk about dying or wish to die

Most people who are suicidal they mention things like they wish to die or they are tired of living and they also mention that others would be better off without them.

2.      Emotional Distance

This sign appear to most people who are thinking of taking their own lives. They isolate themselves from others and they become emotional absent. They also become social inactive, become lonely and they can’t share their thoughts with others

3.      Bid their Goodbyes

They may not say their goodbyes directly but they speak in riddle. Others they leave their personal belongings to people who are special to them as something to remember them by.

4.      Have scars

Most suicidal people especially those who are depressed they hurt themselves physically because they want to convert  the pain they feel to a physical pain. They usually have scars in the body especially on the wrist.

5.     Cut the hair

This may confuse you a little bit because there are some who cut their hairs without suicidal thoughts and it may be difficult to identify in a male. However, it is believed that when someone cut their hair they are going through something.

6.      Change of behaviour

This also may be difficult to identify because some changes may not be related to depression. Some people may change their behaviour as a cry of help and when no one notice they kill themselves.
